Nakamichi Corp., Ltd. (株式会社中道, Kabushiki-Gaisha Nakamichi) is a Japanese consumer electronics brand that originated in Japan and gained a name from the 1970s onwards for innovative and high quality audio cassette decks.
Founded in 1948 by Mr Etsuro Nakamichi, Nakamichi was started as a small research laboratory, providing R&D support to major brands, government entities, universities, and organizations in the private sector. The first Nakamichi product was a reel-to-reel cassette deck, the Nakamichi 1000, which quickly set the standard for top-of-the-line cassette decks. Since then, Nakamichi has contributed to various innovations in technology, such as the compact disc and similar optical memory systems, paving the way for an entire range of high-end consumer electronics.
The Nakamichi mobile audio department was created as part of an ongoing tradition to provide the same quality and performance from their home audio range into the mobile audio industry.
